Our Grade 4 and 5 students were fortunate to attend the Divisional Musical Theatre production of James and the Giant Peach. This field trip enhanced the students' experience with the music curriculum by practicing engagement in appropriate audience member participation and discussing examples of music experienced through live performance. The students were delighted to see two of their classmates, Izzy and Sunny, as cast members in the show!
Every month students from each classroom come together to enjoy a story and a snack with Mrs. McDonald. Over the course of the year, each student will have a turn. In January, the following students participated: Patrick, Madelyn M., Arabella, Logann K., Daman, Lily, Aubrey, Kieffer, Chantel, Jaxon, Lucas, Rhianna, Mattejas, Hannah, Carl Q., Heather, Sunny, Kyla, Sarah M., Dylan K. (Room 15), Walker, Kryztofer, Maddy E., Ryan, Toby...and...the whole PM Kindergarten class.

On February 1, Linwood School will be participating in a “Global School Play Day”. This will be a day for unstructured, student-initiated play. Students will still come to school for the regular length of the school day. On this day, students may bring items they wish to play with. This is to be a day to promote active and imaginative play. You decide what items you are willing to have your child bring to school such as board games, dolls, Lego, blocks, trucks, cars, racetracks, playing cards, empty cardboard boxes, markers, jigsaw puzzles, social games (charades, Pictionary, etc.) The only restrictions: They must bring toys that do NOT require batteries or electricity. No devices. Help your child choose a few toys to bring to school to share. Students will also be free to use play items provided by the school. Students are familiar with what kinds of toys, games, and activities we have.
Research shows that we learn more deeply when we are playing. Feel free to share this with your family, friends, and work places. Challenge other adults to try this challenge too. The more we play, the better we become. We are never too old to play.
You are welcome to join us for part of the day or the whole day if you can. Please contact your child’s teacher to find out how you can help. Follow along with us on Twitter/Instagram that day using #GSPD. Our address is @100yrsofLinwood.
Please go to the Global School Play Day website for more information: www.globalschoolplayday.com .

We are in need of donations of books for children aged eight and up. If you are able to help, please drop books off in the blue bins located in the front hallway of the school. Thank you!
